Here Comes John Manders!
On Monday, September 10, 2007 nationally-known artist John Manders, illustrator of such children’s favorites as Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies and The Perfect Nest, visited Adams Memorial Library and Unity Library. Mr. Manders talked about the life of a children’s book illustrator and showed the process that goes in to making a book from beginning sketches to finished paintings. Mr. Manders also read Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies, while dressed as a pirate bunny, and painted Henry’s portrait. After each program, Mr. Manders signed the Henry painting, and gave it to the library! A Henry painting is hanging outside the Adams Memorial Library Children’s Room, at Unity Library, and at Caldwell Memorial Library. Mr. Manders’ visit was the first event in the library’s new Teddie’s Treasures series.
