Borrowing Priviliges
How long can I keep borrowed material?
Each time you borrow a book or video, a date due receipt or sticker will be given to you, indicating the day you should return the items to the library. Check this date carefully.
Most items circulate for two weeks, with five renewals allowed only if there are no holds or reserves on the item.
How do I renew my items?
You can renew items 2 ways:
- Call any of our branches during the hours that the branch is open, see Our Libraries and choose your library, You can renew your items from any branch, regardless of which branch the items were checked out.
- Bring the item(s) in to any branch and take to the Circulation Desk
Most materials may be renewed five times for the same period as the original loan, unless another reader has placed a "hold" on the item.
Can I renew online?
Yes! Please visit our catalog page and long into your account using your barcode that was provided. If you do not remember your password, please call one of the branches during our regular business hours.
What if my books are overdue? How much are fines?
If you have overdue materials, the library will mail you three reminder letters. If you think the letters may be in error, please bring them to your local library.
If you do not reply, another agency will contact you to collect the fees you owe.
Fines are charged for materials returned after the due date.
Fines are computed per calendar day excluding holidays, and any other day the library is closed.
Fines are 25¢ per day for all items. If you owe the library fines or fees over $10.00 your borrowing privileges as well as use of the Internet may be suspended.
Can I get a book from another branch transferred to my own branch?
Yes, simply call your local library and ask to place a hold. You will have one week to pick up your item(s) before it is returned to the branch.
When your books arrive we will call you.
What are the rules for checking out videos, DVDs, and music?
All items circulate for two weeks (14 days). Items may be reserved, and they may be renewed as long they are not on "hold" for another reader.
