Services include: INFORMATION/REFERRAL - Information about Alzheimer's disease, caregiver issues and referrals to available services. Information packets are mailed upon request. Basic information packets are also distributed to physicians, home health agencies, clergy and community presentations. SUPPORT GROUPS - monthly meetings are held at a variety of locations throughout our 6 county chapter area. These provide a safe and comfortable setting for caregivers, family and / or persons with dementia to share feelings, problems and solutions and discuss issues related to AD. TELEPHONE HELPLINE - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week trained volunteers and staff members listen, answer questions and provide referrals to people who need assistance, information or to just talk. SAFE RETURN Program - the chapter participates in a national identification program designed to locate and safely return individuals with Alzheimer's disease who have wandered from home or a care facility. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - 20 minute to one hour general presentations on AD are available to community groups (no charge for non-profit organizations). Training is also available for health professionals in either one hour modules on a specific topic or a comprehensive 8 hour professional caregiver course. PUBLICATIONS - monthly information update packets are sent to support group facilitators, HelpLine and Speakers' Bureau volunteers. A quarterly newsletter is mailed to approximately 5000 homes and agencies with information about AD research, chapter activities and caregiving resources.
