About Youngstown view map
The small "Service Plaza" a village of taverns, blacksmiths, wagon makers, harness shops and a variety of other merchants all existed within the small area of Youngstown, the one stop shopping eighteenth century style that was the vision of Alexander Young. Located at the foot of the mountains it was an ideal and convenient place to stop before proceeding over Chestnut Ridge, or after descending it. "The First Service Plaza" to service the needs and wants of the travelers along the State Road (Forbes Road), the Turnpike (Stoystown & Greensburg Turnpike) and the Lincoln Highway allowing commerce to flow freely from east to west is a big part of Youngstown's heritage.
